7-8 pm Presentation
You’ve heard a lot on the news about concussions — the most common traumatic brain injury — and the importance of getting treatment. Traumatic brain injury is the leading cause of death and disability in young adults and affects more than two million Americans each year. Meet Dr. John Povlishock, internationally recognized as an expert who has revolutionized medical understanding of traumatic brain injury. Because of him, doctors now know that traumatic brain injuries do not stop after the initial damage – it can take several hours before a brain shows irreversible damage. Povlishock chairs the Anatomy and Neurobiology Department on the Medical College of Virginia Campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. Please call 804.864.1400 to reserve a seat. The presentation is free.
