The human body is a pretty amazing and complex thing. to celebrate the human body, and our summer exhibition Body Worlds & The Brain, we made some eye-catching visits to two of our community partners who know a lot about the human form - The Richmond Ballet and The Downtown YMCA.
The brain is the central cerebral powerhouse of our nervous system and carries out commands that involve, well, the entire body! This vital organ takes up about 20% of the oxygen we take in and is a mere 2% of our body mass.

The Human Heart is pretty amazing! It's the power house of our circulatory system. One muscle with four chambers that pumps about 1900 gallons of blood every single day! That's pretty impressive considering that this vital organ only weighs about 10 ounces. Don't let size...
