Exhibit Interpreters are outgoing and enjoy engaging in conversation, reaching out to guests of all ages, answering their questions and encouraging them to interact with exhibits and in labs. Exhibit Interpreters provide Museum visitors with the opportunity to experience the exhibits and labs in more depth, stimulating further interest and inquiry.
With additional training, Exhibit Interpreters have the opportunity to expand their duties to include presenting Science on a Sphere, giving demonstrations, assisting in the Boost! kitchen, working in LightPlace (exhibit area for children ages 0-5), ArtLab and more.
Minimum age: 14
Time commitment: At least two, 4-hour shifts per month are required.
Dome Ushers greet, take tickets, answer questions and assist guests as they enter and exit the Dome. These volunteers are comfortable interacting with the public, reliable and able to work independently.
Special Event Volunteer
Special Event Volunteers are on-call for movie openings, lectures, exhibition openings and a variety of other special events. They conduct educational activities as well as greet and direct Museum guests. Special Event Volunteers should feel comfortable interacting with people of all ages and be outgoing, flexible and patient. This is an ideal volunteer position if you cannot commit to a regular schedule; volunteers sign up for events for which they are available and interested.
