Using a Sphero robot as your crash test dummy, design and build a car for optimal safety and speed in The Forge! Are you up for the challenge? Put on your automotive engineering cap and launch your car to see if it can withstand the full force of an impact! Tools used in this Maker Workshop include scissors / utility knife, cardboard, high-density foam, craft sticks, miscellaneous supplies and Spheros. Skills used include design, measurement, graph analysis, and material exploration.

This workshop will be held at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on December 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 19, 21, 22 and 23.

Forge Workshops are included with Museum admission. Advance registration is required and can be done in person at the Guest Services desk or by talking with a Forge Facilitator. Click below to purchase your tickets to the Museum.

Maker Workshops are 45-minute experiences led by Forge Facilitators. These project-based workshops result in a take-home item and are limited to 12 participants. All participants in this workshop must be 8 years or older. Participants under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
