Join us for this exciting celestial event!
Come celebrate the partial solar eclipse with space lovers from across Central Virginia. This exciting celestial event takes place on Monday, April 8. At approximately 3:19 p.m., the Moon will cover 85% of the Sun as seen from Richmond!
BYOG (bring your own glasses) or purchase eye-protection verified eclipse viewing glasses in the Science Museum's gift shop. Our friends at the Richmond Astronomical Society will be onsite to share their telescopes—with safe solar filters, of course—so you can fully experience this stellar event!
As if you need more excitement than that, we'll also have interactive astronomy-themed activities, such as sun prints and pinhole cameras. Our neighbors at the Children's Museum of Richmond are joining in on the fun and will have supplies for making a special craft.
While you're enjoying marveling at the Moon, grab a sweet treat from King of Pops or Gelati Celesti.
If the weather cooperates, everything is taking place on The Green, the Science Museum’s newly enhanced greenspace in front of the building. Eclipse activities on The Green are free and open to the public. No registration is required.
Guests interested in exploring Science Museum exhibitions and programming inside the building must pay admission.
