Ghouls just want to have fun! So join us for a weekend of spooky science fun to celebrate Halloween!

Ghostly Galleries

Chills, thrills, and hopefully no spills as educators perform spine-tingling science experiments in the galleries, including spooky spiders, booo bubbles, radical reactions, and even a Frankenstein-inspired organ dissection or two.

Frightful Forge

Bring out your inner Dr. Frankenstein and make your own toy monsters with a bit of creative re-use. Supply your own toys for destruction/reconstruction or choose from a random assortment available to workshop participants on a first come, first served basis.

  • Members: Join us October 30 from 10 a.m. - noon. Not a member? Click here to learn more about membership.
  • Non-Members: This workshop will be held October 31 from 10 a.m. - noon and 1 - 3 p.m.

Advanced registration is required for Forge workshops. Each workshop is limited to 20 guests, ages 8 and up. Workshops can be added to your trip online after purchasing Museum admission tickets (members: don't forget to login first to access your member benefits). Registration can also be done in person at Guest Services if space allows.

Phantom of the Universe

Space isn’t spooky – or is it?! Guests can learn about unlocking the mysteries of dark matter in a special showing of this planetarium show on October 30 and 31 at 2 p.m. on the 76-foot screen in The Dome theater.

Guests can add this feature to their visit for $5 (members can also use a Dome pass). Tickets can be added to your trip online after purchasing Museum admission tickets or they can purchased in person at Guest Services if space allows.

Guests are invited to wear their family friendly Halloween costumes to the Science Museum that weekend. We ask that guests adhere to our mask policy: costume, full face masks = no; personal protection nose and mouth coverings = yes. Museum members: if you wear a costume to the Museum that weekend, you'll earn an extra 10% off in the gift shop!
