Join tech expert Dr. Prem Natarajan to explore AI's history, trends and future.
8 a.m.
Imagine your world without voice assistants, smart devices, streaming services, navigation or autocorrect. Chances are you would be less connected to friends and family, have to drive to a store to select which movies to watch, have considerably more typos in your emails and miss your exit on road trips much more often! Artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed our lives, evolving both the way and speed in which we make decisions and complete tasks. Just as the Second Industrial Revolution brought us gasoline engines and mass production, society is entering the Fourth Industrial Revolution—driving new innovations through the use of AI.
In his Sunrise Science talk, Prem Natarajan will provide a brief overview of the history of AI and how far we've come, major trends we're seeing in ways that may affect everyone and what's possible in the space today. Dr. Natarajan will place this trajectory in the context of AI in our evolving world and discuss the main considerations we all need to collectively be mindful of as this technology advances and becomes more ubiquitous in our everyday lives.
Have you ever stopped to think about how much of your life is fueled by science? From the food we eat and the movies we watch, to the technology that keeps us safe and the policy decisions that govern our country, it’s hard to find something that isn’t rooted in science.
Sunrise Science is a new speaker series where people with really big (and cool) jobs will pour out a little of their expertise, experience and insight into the ways our world is shaped by science.
Each event begins at 8 a.m. and will conclude by 9 a.m. so you can continue on with your day, but with a little extra science to fill your cup of knowledge! Sunrise Science events are free, but registration is required.
Please note: Science Museum exhibitions will not be open during Sunrise Science events.
