The Science Museum of Virginia Foundation hosts a variety of fundraising events throughout the year. A sampling of events is below. Proceeds from these events support the Museum in its mission to Inspire Virginians to enrich their lives through science.
The Trustees and the Foundation Board of Directors of the Science Museum of Virginia host an elegant black tie fundraising gala in the Museum’s new landmark exhibit and community event space, the Dewey Gottwald Center. This evening of cocktails, dinner and dancing supports the Museum’s educational pursuits and our mission to enrich the lives of Virginians through science. The Museum’s Up&Atom Breakfast takes place in May each year and brings together 300 successful women professionals from Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields and advocates to celebrate success and inspire others to enrich their lives through science. Featuring a complimentary continental breakfast and keynote remarks (past speakers include the First Lady of Virginia, Dorothy McAuliffe and former Virginia Secretary of Education, Anne Holton) this event also features a call to action to support the Science Museum of Virginia’s effort to engage youth – especially girls – in informal science education opportunities.
