What: “MathAlive!,” a touring exhibition on display at the Science Museum of Virginia that showcases ways mathematics plays into music, sports, movies, games and more, is closing soon. Guests have less than two weeks to enjoy the interactive experience before it leaves Richmond.
From athletics to hobbies to entertainment, “MathAlive!” shows they are each a product of math, helping guests relate to and understand how math is used in countless ways.
More than 30 immersive exhibits bring math to life by exploring a wide variety of concepts, including fractions, scale, percentages, shapes, dimensions, volume and more. Guests will interact with snowboards, robots, extreme weather, skateboards, 360-degree photos and more.
When: “MathAlive!” closes Sunday, Jan. 12.
Why: “MathAlive!” is inspiring, revealing math’s endless possibilities and the need for math in all we do. Whether adult or child, math-lover or math-hesitant, this exhibition will add value to everyone’s Science Museum visit.
Who: “MathAlive!” is designed for math enthusiasts aged 7–14. It is presented in both English and Spanish.
“MathAlive!” is produced by Evergreen Exhibitions in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, MATHCOUNTS, National Society of Professional Engineers, Society of Women Engineers and MathMovesU.
How: “MathAlive!” is included with Science Museum admission. Guests may purchase tickets on the Science Museum’s website or in person at Guest Services when they arrive. Discounts are available for teachers, military personnel and through the Museums for All program.
Members receive unlimited free admission to the Science Museum and the touring exhibition.
