Trick-o’-Treat Yourself to Spooky Science Weekend at the Science Museum of Virginia

What: For science lovers looking for a frighteningly good time, the Science Museum of Virginia is celebrating Halloween with Spooky Science fun the last weekend of the month.
When: Saturday, Oct. 30, and Sunday, Oct. 31
The Science Museum is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Demonstrations will be held in the galleries throughout the day.
The Forge will only be open to members on October 30 from 10 a.m. to noon. All guests may participate in the Franken-toy workshops October 31 from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.
“Phantom of the Universe” is showing in The Dome at 2 p.m. both days.
Who: Curious-minded guests of all ages are invited to enjoy the in-Museum activities. Science lovers who can’t visit in-person but want to join in the fun can find Halloween-themed content and activities posted on the Science Museum’s blog, website and social media pages.
Guests named Bruce or Wayne must show identification to receive free admission.
Guests are invited to wear family friendly costumes that adhere to the Science Museum’s mask policy. Members who wear a costume will receive an extra 10 percent off on gift shop purchases.
Why: The Science Museum has a long tradition of creating holiday-themed content and activities. It is another way for the organization to remind Virginians that science is all around them, and highlight ways we’re all connected to STEM. Plus, it’s fun for both staff and guests!
How: All activities except the Dome feature are included with Science Museum admission. “Phantom of the Universe” requires an additional ticket. The Science Museum offers discounts for military, teachers and EBT cardholders. Guests should call 804.864.1400 for details about reserving tickets with the discount code.
Registration is required for Forge workshops. Each workshop is limited to 20 guests ages 8 and up. Workshops can be added through the Science Museum’s website after purchasing admission tickets or in-person at Guest Services if space allows.
