Take on the role of an engineer and design a tower that can withstand the force of an earthquake! Build a structure strong enough to endure seismic activity using basic materials. This exciting hands-on activity will not only challenge your design and engineering skills but also be a lot of fun.

Tools used in this challenge include straws, pipe cleaners and cardboard. Skills used include creative thinking, design and engineering.

This challenge will be held daily between 10 a.m.– noon and 3:30 – 5 p.m. everyday in February except for the following dates February 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 22*, 23 and 24. *February 22 we will only hold afternoon challenge hours. Please see the daily schedule for details.

Stop by The Forge anytime during Maker Challenge hours! No registration is required and you can stay for 15 minutes or the full 2 hours!

Maker Challenges are included with Science Museum admission and are designed for learners of all ages. Use your creativity and critical thinking skills to build solutions to fun challenges! New and different challenges happen each month.

Advance registration is not required, but space is limited to 25 participants at a time. All participants must be at least 8 years or older. Participants under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
