Felling, UK: Artworks by Dawn Felicia Knox

In the borough of Felling, Northern England, an untamed plot of land hides a saga of industry, discovery and natural remediation in the wake of human disruption. This former coal mine is now a contaminated brownfield deemed unfit for development. It has hosted 90 years of natural plant succession atop the piles of mining waste and concrete.

In this exhibition, multidisciplinary artist Dawn Felicia Knox derives otherworldly images from the resilient plantlife transformed by—and transforming—a post-industrial wasteland.

Knox is a multimedia artist who creates multi-layered installations that explore toxicity, remediation and transformation.
