Join us for a sensory-friendly evening

It’s a celebration of flora and fauna at the Science Museum! Take part in fall-themed hands-on activities and explore our new touring exhibition, The Power of Poison. The event features accommodations for sensitivities to lights and sounds.

  • Make fall-themed, take-home pins that will make you want to jump in a pile of leaves in joy.
  • See how nature repurposes your food scraps through the use of vermiculture composting.
  • Visit The Forge for a hands-on experience in paper embossing.
  • Explore the enthralling world of toxicity in nature in the touring exhibition, The Power of Poison.
  • Make your way to The Dome for two features! Animal Kingdom, a giant screen film, will have a visual describer provided by Virginia Voice and our newest astronomy show, Encounters of the Milky Way, will follow.

Minds of All Kinds admission is free. Registration is required.

Thanks to our partners at Virginia Voice, SOAR365, Autism Society of Central Virginia, Friendship Circle of Virginia, Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond and the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired for collaborating on this event.
