Join us for a sensory-friendly evening

We’re having an animal party for our next Minds of All Kinds! Celebrate the summer touring exhibition Survival of the Slowest by hanging out with us. And don’t miss the giant screen film, Superpower Dogs, in The Dome! Minds of All Kinds features accommodations including reduced lighting and sounds, as well as limited crowd sizes.

Note: The 4–5 p.m. hour is designed for high sensory seekers.

  • See a sloth, tenrec, snakes and more in our summer touring exhibition, Survival of the Slowest.
  • Get crafty in The Forge as you construct take-home sloth pins.
  • Visit an animal sensory table to interact with insects, animal pelts and more.
  • Look through a microscope at feathers, flowers and other natural elements seen in The Green.
  • Smile for the artist! A caricature artist will create funny portraits of guests.
  • Enjoy two features in The Dome. For the giant screen film Superpower Dogs, a visual describer provided by Virginia Voice will offer interpretive commentary. And our live astronomy show will take you to places far, far away.

Minds of All Kinds admission is free. Registration is required.

Thanks to our partners at Virginia Voice, SOAR365, Autism Society of Central Virginia, Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond and the Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired for collaborating on this event.

Please note: We often take photos and videos of Science Museum guests to use for marketing purposes.
