Science After Dark: Spooky Science
Get into the Halloween spirit with a night full of frighteningly fun STEM activities!

This annual celebration is a monster hit! The Science Museum is filled with science tricks and treats—from bugs to pumpkins to flames—in this after-dark experience.
Get hands-on with Halloween-inspired experiences across all four levels of the Science Museum:
- Get crafty in The Forge and create a jack-o’-lantern or ghost pin to add some spooky flair to your October outfit.
- Watch curious concoctions come to life with flames, toothpaste, pumpkins and more!
- Take a bite out of science by sampling a flavored bug and deciding for yourself: trick or treat?
- Buzz into the Eco Lab to visit a colony of bees, or skitter over to the Animal Lab to meet some creepy crawlers.
- Race down to Rescue and discover how science and quick thinking can turn scary situations into heroic responses.
- Celebrate Halloween, National Chemistry Week and Mole Day! The American Chemical Society and other scientists and organizations will bring a variety of demonstrations and hands-on activities to the Science Museum.
Still not bone-chilling enough? Stop by The Dome for a live astronomy show about the spooky things in space!
Family-friendly costumes are encouraged! Bonus points for dressing as Morocco Mole or Rufus in honor of Mole Day.
Admission
Science After Dark admission is $19 for adults, $16 for youth (ages 6–12) and seniors (ages 60 and older) and $11 for preschool-aged children (ages 3–5). Science After Dark admission is free for Science Museum members, children under 2 and college students with a valid ID.
Shows in The Dome are included with Science After Dark admission and will take place at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Shows are approximately 30 minutes in length. Please note: there are no assigned seats in The Dome. Seating is first-come, first-served, and guests may sit wherever they like.
