Art showcases the detrimental effects of pollutants on our waterways.
Seascapes of the 21st Century spotlights the far-reaching, negative impacts of pollutants introduced into our oceans and seas. Including topics such as microplastics and harmful algal blooms, this art exhibition explores human impact on both the environment and human health through 21 compelling paintings and an award-winning short film.
All pieces in the exhibition were created by Dr. Eugene G. Maurakis, an evolutionary biologist specializing in biogeography, ichthyology and environmental sciences. Maurakis studies breeding behaviors and selfish herd theory of nest-building fishes.
Seascapes of the 21st Century is on display through May 2025.
Art is a powerful bridge to lead guests into a scientific topic.
