Does being slow, small or sleepy have advantages? Sometimes, yes! Survival of the Slowest takes its time and proves just that. Featuring a variety of live animals, this touring exhibition explores overlooked species that have used perceived disadvantages that help them not only survive, but thrive in a world full of fast animals at the top of the food chain.

Discover sloths’ tactics to avoid predators, iguanas’ energy conservation and how snakes can go so long without eating. See how general biology concepts apply in the real world and how animal survival is all about trade-offs. Understand how some critters find unique ways to hide from adversaries.

Live animals featured in the exhibition include:

  • lesser hedgehog tenrec
  • ball python and other snakes
  • bearded dragon
  • Asian water dragon
  • blue-tongued skink
  • box turtle
  • gold knee tarantula (and Brazilian black tarantula)
  • horned frog
  • leopard gecko
  • ... and a two-toed sloth who's ready to hang out for the summer!

Take your time going through the exhibition and you’ll be rewarded with an animal adventure that’s sure to leave prints on your entire family’s memory!

This touring exhibition is open May 23–September 7.
