The basics of soldering is a must for all inventors and creators. Come learn about energy generating piezo capacitance circuits in The Forge and discover how movements (mechanical energy) is turned into electrical energy by testing led lights! This is an easy project that will give you the skills needed for more advanced circuits. Tools used in this Maker Workshop include soldering iron, solder, wires, piezo element and LEDs. Skills used include basic circuitry, soldering, and alternative energy exploration.

This workshop will be held at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on February 4, 5, 6, 7, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21.

About Maker Workshops

Forge Workshops are included with Museum admission. Advance registration is required and can be done in person at the Guest Services desk or by talking with a Forge Facilitator. Click below to purchase your tickets to the Museum.

Maker Workshops are 45-minute experiences led by Forge Facilitators. These project-based workshops result in a take-home item and are limited to 12 participants. All participants in this workshop must be 11 years or older. Participants under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
