Wheelchairs, including manual or electric single seat chairs and electric mobility seated scooters, and other manually operated mobility devices including walkers, crutches, canes, braces and other similar devices, are permitted in all public areas of the Museum. The Museum has electric scooters and power-driven and manually-operated wheelchairs available for use free of charge from the Guest Services Desk on a first-come basis.
The Science Museum of Virginia has elevators connecting guests with every level of the Museum.
Available at the Guest Services desk, the map/guide contains a floor plan of the Museum for easier navigation.
Accessible restrooms are located throughout the Museum. Family restrooms are located on Level 1 through the Discovery Room and by the Dome Theater, on Level 2 just before the Animal and in The Forge, and on Level 0 in the Dewey Gottwald Center.
Wheelchair accessible seating is located at the top of the Dome Theater and is accessed through the theater exit on Level 1. The Dome elevator provides easy access for guests to the concession stand on Level 0.
