Studies have shown that helping others can reduce the impact of daily stressors on our mental health. Here's a way to help yourself and help others at the same time: donate blood!

Every two seconds, someone needs blood in the United States, and approximately 29,000 units of red blood cells are needed daily. The urgent need for blood and platelets, which can only come from donors and cannot be manufactured, underscores the importance of blood donation.

Join the Science Museum of Virginia on Saturday, July 6, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m for a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross. By donating blood, you can help trauma and burn victims, patients battling cancer, people living with chronic illnesses and many others.

Ready to roll up your sleeves? Sign up to make a donation and receive one free admission to our summer touring exhibition, BODY WORLDS: The Anatomy of Happiness. Explore the complexity of the body and the impact happiness has on our health.
