Maker Challenge: Construct the Tallest Tower

Have you ever wondered how skyscrapers can endure such impressive heights and withstand various forces? The answer lies in the principles of design and engineering! By understanding how to distribute weight and create stable structures, it is possible to build incredible feats of architecture. Stop by The Forge and put your ingenuity to the test. Can you design a structure capable of towering over your competitors? Come find out and test your building and engineering skills!

Materials used in this challenge include index cards, tape and a cardboard base.

This challenge will be held daily between 10 a.m.– noon and 3:30– 5 p.m. everyday in April except for the following dates April 6, 13, 19, 20, and 27.

About Maker Challenges

Stop by The Forge anytime during Maker Challenge hours. No registration is required and you can stay for 15 minutes or the full 2 hours!

Maker Challenges are included with Science Museum admission and are designed for learners of all ages. Use your creativity and critical thinking skills to build solutions to fun challenges! New and different challenges happen each month.

Advance registration is not required, but space is limited to 25 participants at a time. All participants must be at least 8 years or older. Participants under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
