How many people can say their career path includes diapers, bugs and vaping? Dr. Michelle Peace can. During her Sunrise Science presentation on November 7, the Virginia Commonwealth University forensic science professor will discuss her professional STEM experience related to crime scenes, patents, public health and more.
Peace started her career refining household items at Procter & Gamble, then pivoted into forensic toxicology. An internationally recognized expert on issues with vaping and the evolving cannabis industry, she regularly testifies to regulatory and legislative bodies at the state and federal level.
Peace will share how forensic science drove her out of the lab and into advocating for public health and safety. No crimes will take place so this is one scene you’ll want to witness!
Sunrise Science begins at 8 a.m. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. so you can grab a complimentary cup of coffee or tea to enjoy during the talk. Each presentation includes time for audience questions at the end. The event will conclude by 9 a.m. so you can continue on with your day, but with a little extra science to fill your cup of knowledge!
Sunrise Science events are free. Tickets are capped due to fixed seating in The Dome. Guests will be asked to fill all available seats.
