Herpetofauna Identification Workshop

Join the Science Museum of Virginia and the Virginia Herpetological Society for a free interactive workshop to grow our understanding of the natural world around us.

Leeanna Pletcher from the Virginia Herpetological Society will present about herpetofauna such as frogs, salamanders or snakes and how to identify various species using iNaturalist.

Use your evening to become a participatory scientist, engaging in scientific discovery and helping increase our knowledge about reptiles and amphibians in our region.

The workshop is indoors, and light snacks and drinks will be provided. This event is part of a series focusing on Virginia’s flora and fauna made possible by a grant from the Seeding Action program, sponsored by the Association of Science and Technology Centers in conjunction with iNaturalist.

Supplies

We will be working on computers using iNaturalist. A laptop is preferred (instead of a tablet or phone). When you register for the event, you can request to borrow a computer if needed. No experience with iNaturalist is required.

Registration and Pricing

This event is free and open to the public. Space is limited and registration is required. This event is for guests ages 18+.

This workshop does not include admission to the Science Museum, but be sure to check out all you can explore on a future visit.
