Explore the STEM and teamwork that save lives in our touring exhibition Rescue and discover how more than 15 local organizations are putting those skills into action. Meet emergency responders, tackle hands-on challenges with rescue equipment and hang out with adoptable rescued dogs. Best of all, it’s a $10 Day and first responders get in for free!
What’s Happening?
Designed for curious guests of all ages, activities include hands-on CPR, water rescue challenges, fire safety experiences and even a tree rescue demonstration on The Green (weather permitting).

Experience Rescue
Start your day in Rescue, the Science Museum’s interactive touring exhibition. Step into the role of a first responder through immersive land, sea and air rescue missions. Pilot a rescue helicopter, deliver flotation devices by drone and discover the science that helps emergency responders make split-second decisions.
Designed for all ages, Rescue features more than a dozen interactive experiences and includes Virginia's first American Heart Association CPR training kiosk, made possible through support from Genworth and CareScout.
The $10 admission includes general admission, the Rescue touring exhibition, demos, The Forge and labs.
Add A Dome Show… and a Sloth!
Dome features and our Survival of the Slowest touring exhibition can be added to a Science Museum ticket for just $5 each. As part of Operation Rescue, The Dome features two inspiring rescue-themed giant screen films: Wild Rescue and Superpower Dogs.
To buy your Operation Rescue tickets online, purchase general admission for August 15. Admission is free online or in person for Science Museum members and children two and younger. Military, teachers and first responders receive free general admission by showing their ID at the Science Museum. Discounted tickets are available to EBT-cardholders through the Museums for All program.
